Description
A suite of .NET classes which make it easy to add Internet functionality to your software, with support for Visual Studio 2026 and .NET 10.0. The SocketTools .NET Edition provides everything you need to get started, including documentation and examples, along with free technical support to answer your development questions.
Product Overview
The SocketTools .NET Edition includes managed components for uploading and downloading files, accessing web-based services, sending and retrieving e-mail messages, executing commands on remote servers, interactive terminal sessions and much more.
SocketTools introduces a Large Language Model (LLM) client component that provides a unified interface for integrating artificial intelligence capabilities into Windows applications. Developers can use the same programming model to connect to popular cloud-based AI services as well as locally hosted models, without having to implement provider-specific APIs or manage the complexities of individual service integrations.
The SocketTools .NET components are compatible with Visual Studio 2026 and previous versions. The assemblies can be used with applications which target .NET 4.5 through version 10.0. They are supported on 32-bit and 64-bit Windows desktop and server platforms. Examples are provided for Visual Studio 2019 and later versions.
Supported protocols include DNS, FTP, HTTP, ICMP, IMAP4, NNTP, POP3, SMTP, SSH and TELNET. General purpose TCP and UDP client and server support is also included, along with support for both IPv4 and IPv6 networks. A single interface provides both synchronous and asynchronous network connections.
Secure connections are supported using the Transport Layer Security (TLS 1.3) and Secure Shell (SSH 2.0) protocols with AES-256 bit encryption. Security features in the components can be enabled with just a few lines of code and do not require any experience with data encryption or cryptography.
The SocketTools .NET Edition includes examples for both Visual Basic and C# installed in the Documents folder for the current user. The functionality for each of the examples is similar, with the only difference being the language that they are implemented in. To use these examples, you must have the SocketTools .NET Edition installed, either with a valid evaluation or development license.
The SocketTools .NET Edition classes implement the most commonly used Internet application protocols such as FTP, HTTP, POP3, IMAP4, SMTP and SSH. It also includes classes for general TCP/IP networking services, parsing MIME e-mail messages, executing remote commands, interactive terminal sessions and much more.
